The Multi-Cultural Yoghurt Party (MCYP) was an art project i did with the Turkish artist Dilek Winchester for the Stoke Newington Festival (2002).

The aim of the project was to find a narrative that united the various Turkish communities in the area. These communities were divided by strong political and cultural tensions that they held strongly to since the various waves of immigration triggered by conflicts at home in Turkey.

We chose yoghurt. Everyone, Armenians, Kurds, and Turkish groups from the right to the left all related to the ancient history and cultural narrative surrounding yoghurt.
So we created a political party, dedicated to the manufacture, and worship of yoghurt. Multicultural yoghurt to be precise. I spent a year obsessed with everything to do with yoghurt.
