It's A Rich Man's World

It's a Rich Man's World is a performance conference and immersive musical event which celebrates the world of The One Percent. It's Harry Enfield set to music.

The show could take place at Hornsey Town Hall, with tickets being payable in a range of alternative currencies. Gambling would be significant element of the event, along side economic talks, Stand-up Comedy and of course Abba.

Tickets would be purchasable with Brixton Pound, Time Credits and Bitcoin. We would explore themes of Austerity, Quantitive Easing and Crooked Finance in the form of a Decentralised Conference involving the thousands of LETS, Time Banks and Credit Unions around the world.

In musical terms we would base the music and immersive sound on Abba's song of the same name, and Harry Enfield's Loads Of Money. We will invite Abba to perform live, or failing that organise a tribute band to perform.

The People Speak would perform their game show Who Wants To Be with the audience arguing of how to spend their entrance fee on on the whimsical (or sincere) projects, voting on the funniest (or best). Cash fluttering in a glass casket in front of their eyes.

Prior to the event, we would run a gambling games contest, featuring Backgammon, Monopoly and Card Games, and during the event we would run a Casino. The winnings would be spent on creative projects through the issuance of a Commissioning Currency.

Tickets for the event would be in cash - that is a new issue of the Brixton Pound with a design which reflects the theme of the event. These "tickets" would be able to circulate, and used at other locations, and in the casino depending on legal issues (the commissioning currency would be easier).

We would release the event under a Creative Commons license and invite communities around the world to play, and put on their own events. We would run a crowd sale, and create a follow on MOOC about issues to do with how the current money system works, with an emphasis on exploring alternatives.
